My Step Up is a Care Farm in Lancashire and we have been an active social service for over six years. We have a range of clients who visit us to enjoy the benefits of working outdoors and socialising with others.
A care farm is an outdoor activity centre that provides therapeutic benefits and social care services for adults with special needs, people recovering from drug addiction, mental illness and many other groups. The purpose of a care farm is to help people engage with outdoor activities and benefit from animal therapy. Studies show the benefits of working outside and working with animals. We have seen firsthand the positive progression of our clients who visit us on a regular basis.
Care farming is becoming an important service for people who are looking to improve their social, physical or mental health. Working with other people in a relaxed and outdoor environment can improve emotional attitudes and give you a more active and physical lifestyle.
My Step Up is a care farm for adults with special educational needs. We also provide services for adults with mental illness and some physical difficulties.
Since we opened we have catered for a range of different clients and we have seen the benefits of care farming for adults. Working outside and interacting with animals can improve positive attitudes and physical energy. We have worked with other care farms and we have seen the positive impact they have made in the UK.
